BOOK TESTS FOR CANCER
Diagnostic tests are used to confirm or rule out the presence of cancer, plan for treatment, and see how well treatment is working. In some cases, repeat testing is needed when a person’s condition has changed.
What Does Testing Include?
Diagnostic procedures for cancer may include imaging scans, lab tests, biopsy, endoscopic exam, or genetic testing. The most common test used to diagnose cancer is a tissue or needle biopsy.
Why Choose Cancer Screening Tests?
Screening tests help in early detection of cancer. This enables timely treatment, reduces additional treatment cost due to advanced disease and even substantially improves the chances of survival.
Pre & Post Chemo Tests
Doctors advise taking certain lab tests before and during chemotherapy. These help them decide how fit the body is for
treatment and how well the treatment is working. In general, a couple of tests including a complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, and various tests to rule out specific infections need to be conducted.
To help you avoid the hustle of booking multiple tests and focus better on your treatment, Tata 1mg has curated two
exclusive test packages to suit your needs after detailed discussions with cancer experts.
Pre-chemotherapy package
Serves as baseline blood work
This package includes tests your doctor may prescribe before your first treatment to help decide what treatment you need
and compare the results with future tests. It includes tests such as complete blood count (CBC), liver function test
(LFT), Kidney function test (KFT), HIV test, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) Screening, and Glucose fasting, among
others.
Additionally, you may need other tests depending on the chemotherapy type and the side effects it may cause.
Post-chemotherapy package
Acts as a guiding and monitoring parameter
This package includes tests your doctor may prescribe while chemotherapy sessions are ongoing. It includes tests such as
complete blood count (CBC), liver function test (LFT), and Kidney function test (KFT). This is used to monitor your
condition or the side effects of cancer treatment. For example, CBC helps check the level of red blood cells, white
blood cells, and platelets. If your RBC is too low, a blood transfusion may be needed.
Note: LFT and KFT help determine how well your liver and kidneys are working. If they aren't working well, chemotherapy
may give you more side effects.
